A dropped shot on the 16th hole by tournament host Tiger Woods allowed Geoff Ogilvy to hold a one-shot lead going into the final round of the Target World Challenge in California.

World number one Woods began the round with a one-shot lead and he still held that margin over Ogilvy with three holes to play. But he bogeyed the par-five and Ogilvy's closing birdie meant he leapfrogged Woods at the top of the leaderboard.

Woods is now joint second on 10-under 206 with compatriot Chris DiMarco, who shot a second-successive 68.

Ogilvy, the US Open champion, fired a best of the day 67 to set the pace on 11-under.

Playing in his first four-round tournament since the early October, Woods started the third round with a pair of birdies, but could do no better than par thereafter.

Englishman Paul Casey shot a second straight 70 and is at 209, one shot better than first-round leader Henrik Stenson (73) and David Toms (68).

Padraig Harrington is surely too far off the pace after a third round 70 left the Dubliner seven shots off the pace.
