Nice to see that the possibility of an historic match between Israel and Palestine taking place, an idea proposed by FIFA boss Sepp Blatter during his recent Middle East tour, is inching ever closer. Well, kind of. The president of the Palestinian Football Federation, Ahmed Afifi, said last Wednesday that he too would like to see the match go ahead, one day, once Israel "applies all the accords agreed such as the freeing of Palestinian prisoners, the dismantling of the settlements, withdrawal from the West Bank and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as the capital." Discussions on a possible venue for the game have been postponed for now, 'coz there's no great rush.
