Boxer Nigel Benn launched his book Dark Destroyer this week. Benn, as we all remember, was a scrapper who drew the crowds as much for the brutality of his style as for the finer points of boxing.
Having finally been sent into retirement by Ireland's Steve Collins after putting American Gerald McClellan in a wheelchair, Benn now works as a DJ and refuses to watch the sport, condemning it as boring and without characters.
After the bout with McClellan in the London Arena in 1995, Benn described his post-match condition: "I had a fractured jaw, fractured nose, my kidneys were damaged and I had a shadow on my brain."
No problem, though, to organise six more fights before retirement. Don't you just love the people who run boxing.
