We were browsing through yesterday's papers trying to find some transfer gossip we could pilfer when we spotted these two "stories" which we feel the need to share with you: (1) "Exclusive: Striker Tore Andre Flo is ready to end his Chelsea nightmare with a £12 million move to Rangers"; (2) "Exclusive: Chelsea have rejected a £10 million bid by Glasgow Rangers for striker Tore Andre Flo who they say is not for sale." And then: (1) Manchester United are set to offer £5 million-rated Tottenham defender Stephen Carr £20,000 a week to join them - five times his White Hart Lane pay; (2) George Graham expects Stephen Carr to sign a new contract with Spurs soon. We also read confirmation and denials of Paulo Wanchope's move from Manchester City to Celtic, Jason McAteer's transfer from Blackburn to Southampton and Kieron Dyer's £15 million switch from Newcastle to Barcelona.
And, just to cap it all, we spotted that Ipswich and Southampton are battling it for the signature of a promising young Italian striker by the name of . . . Gianluca Vialli. Well, 36 years young.
