One Man for Cup

GORDON RICHARDS has finally ended weeks of speculation over One Man's intended Cheltenham target

GORDON RICHARDS has finally ended weeks of speculation over One Man's intended Cheltenham target. The grey was left out of the Queen Mother Champion Chase when the acceptors were published yesterday for the nine championship races at the Festival but he has been left in the Gold Cup.

Richards said yesterday: "I've not declared him for the Champion Chase, which saves us £500! I'd think he'll now probably run in the Gold Cup as I think he will have a better chance in that race.

"He's all right after Ascot and it was my fault that he was below form there as I ran him too quick he was very flat and showed no sparkle."

Ladbrokes responded to the news by quoting a Gold Cup price of 10 to 1 for One Man, who had previously been offered at 8 to 1 "with a run".
