England coach Clive Woodward - whose team were humiliated 36-3 by the All Blacks last weekend - has made six changes to his starting line-up for Saturday's second test.
Woodward, who has made a change in every department of his team and dropped World Cup winners Matt Dawson, Mike Catt and Steve Thompson, said he was not panicking ahead of the match at Eden Park, Auckland. "I don't think I have over-reacted, we took our time, we went through the tape, which wasn't great watching, so clearly there had to be changes."
Wasps winger Tom Voyce will win his second cap in place of James Simpson-Daniel, who looked lightweight at Carisbrook last week. The experienced Catt is out and another Wasp in Stuart Abbott will partner Mike Tindall in the centre, while Dawson has been relegated to the bench to allow Andy Gomarsall to start at scrumhalf.
England shipped 30 points in the first half last weekend and their better showing defensively in the second period, when they conceded just two penalties, is reflected in two changes to the pack.
Blindside flanker Joe Worsley and lock Steve Borthwick, who replaced Chris Jones and Danny Grewcock at half-time, will start on Saturday with the inexperienced Jones dropped altogether and Grewcock on the bench. In the front row, hooker Thompson, whose throwing at the line-out was erratic, has been dropped in favour of Mark Regan, with uncapped Andy Titterell coming in on the bench.
The changes mean just six of the players who started in England's World Cup final win over Australia last November will take the field on Saturday. Although Woodward has been hit by a rash of retirements and injuries since the World Cup, several players pulled out of the tour because they said they needed a rest after their long season.
"It's tough on people like Thompson and Dawson," Woodward said. "But I think you have got to pat them on the back that they are here - they've fronted-up."
All Black winger Doug Howlett is also out with a shoulder injury. His place will be taken by Nick Evans, who will start at full back with Muliaina moving to the wing.
