Already Ireland’s most successful female badminton player by some distance, Magee first competed in Beijing 2008, becoming the first Irish woman to win a badminton match in the Olympics, and followed that up with a second appearance in London, missing out on a place in the last 16 of the women’s singles after losing to Hongyang Pi of France. Along with brother Sam she’s also forged a successful double partnership on the world circuit, and comes to Rio with both the experience and determination to get into that last 16 this time.
