Results from the second day of racing at the Royal Cork Yacht Club reflect the latest entries that have swelled the ranks of Dinghy Fest 2015 to 183 boats.
In the RS200 event, Marty O’Leary and Rachel Williamson won all five races and even discarded one victory though the event now switches to light airs mode with a significant wind reduction expected.
Meanwhile in Belgium, Dave Cullen and the crew on Checkmate won the Half Ton Cup with a race to spare after a breezy series. The full line-up on board was: Dave Cullen, Mark Pettit, John Murphy, Aidan Beggan, James Hynes, Andy George and Gary Cullen.
In Rio, Ryan Seaton and Matt McGovern qualified for the medal race final in the 49er skiff event but were amongst three boats disqualfied in the last race so ended the warm-up series for next year’s Olympics in tenth place.
Annalise Murphy had the worst result in recent memory, placing last in the her class after a memorably forgettable regatta that was dominated by light airs on complex courses.
