Euro hockey league kicks off in Barcelona

A number of Irish players will be involved in Europe’s premier club competition

This weekend the start of the EuroHockey League sees four Irish players involved in the opening round of matches and several more in a three weeks’ time with Dutch and English clubs.

In Barcelona over the next few days Surbiton's Geoff McCabe and Mikey Watt, who moved to the English club from Spain and Netherlands respectively, are in action. David Ames, who along with Ian Sloan left the Irish set-up for Britain, lines out for Beeston with Ian Horsfield playing in Scotland for Kelburne.
