George Dockrell has been ruled out of Ireland's T20 World Cup qualifier final on Thursday with a calf injury.

The middle-order batter picked up the injury while fielding in the second innings of Ireland’s win over Oman. The result secured qualification for next October’s T20 World Cup in Australia

Dockrell has become an important power-hitting option for Ireland of late, having converted from a left-arm spinner earlier in his career.

His most noteworthy contribution of this qualifying tournament was a late cameo of 24 off just 11 balls against Bahrain, a knock that proved vital to Ireland posting a competitive total in a winning effort.

In his absence, Ireland will likely pick Shane Getkate as a like-for-like batting replacement. All-rounder Curtis Campher is also an option.

Ireland take on the UAE on Thursday at 10am Irish time in the final of the tournament. The Emirati side has beaten Ireland in the previous four meetings between the two.
