Ireland's Georgia Drummy is just one match away from qualifying for the Australian Open junior singles draw. The Mount Anville student won her first match of the qualifiers against Japan's Sakura Yonehara in three sets 6-3, 6-7, 7-5 and now meets America's, Helen Abigail Altick, who is ranked 105 in the world junior rankings to Drummy's 200.

The 15-year-old would be the youngest Irish player to qualify for a Grand Slam event if she can negotiate her way past Altick and earn a place in the main draw.

It is Drummy’s first time playing in a tennis major and she faces Altick for a place in the final 64 on Thursday (Australian time).
