Katie Taylor part of first women’s bout to headline Madison Square Garden

Keenly-awaited clash with Amanda Serrano in New York has been set for the end of April

Undisputed lightweight world champion Katie Taylor is set to be part of history on April 30th when her fight with Amanda Serrano becomes the first female bout to headline at Madison Square Garden.

Matchroom confirmed the clash in New York, which will be broadcast by DAZN, between the Irish boxer and Serrano, a seven-weight world champion, on Thursday afternoon.

“This is a fight I’ve wanted for a long, long time and I’m just excited for it to finally take place because these are the kind of fights I’m in the sport for,” Taylor said.

“When I turned professional my goal was to be involved in huge events like this so to headline at Madison Square Garden in a fight of this magnitude is really the pinnacle of the sport.”
