Although a big bunch sprint settled yesterday’s fifth stage of the Tour de Suisse, Dan Martin and Nicolas Roche both moved up a notch in the general classification and are well placed heading into the final four days of the event.
The 176.4-kilometre stage to Leuggern was won by the Katusha rider Alexander Kristoff, the Norwegian outsprinting Peter Sagan (Cannondale) and Tuesday’s winner Arnaud Demare (FDJ).
Neither Roche nor Martin disputed the gallop, netting 27th and 57th place respectively to lie sixth and 19th overall in the general classification.
The WorldTour race continues today with a bumpy 186.1-kilometre stage from Leuggern to Meilen.
