Nick Blackwell has announced his retirement from boxing, tweeting "that's me done" but suggesting he will stay involved in the sport as his recovery continues from the serious injuries sustained against Chris Eubank Jr in last month's British middleweight title fight in Wembley.

The former British middleweight champion also said he holds no grudge towards Eubank Jr, who won the fight by way of knockout in the 10th round. Blackwell was placed in an induced coma after suffering a bleed on his skull.

After Blackwell posted a message to thank people for their support, Eubank Jr responded: “I’ve tried reaching out since you woke. Haven’t heard anything back from you or your team. I hope there’s no hard feelings.”

Within minutes Blackwell replied: “No hard feelings, we were both there doing a job and it was unfortunate for what happened but I hope your OK champ.”
