Dan Parks, the Scotland outhalf so often reviled in his adopted country, turned in a memorable display to give Andy Robinson’s side a victory in Tucuman over opponents who had beaten them in Edinburgh last autumn.
Sydney-born Parks, bound for Cardiff this summer, landed all of Scotland’s points with six penalties and two drop-goals.
Robinson was delighted after his side came back from 13-6 down to complete their second successive win on Argentinian soil following their 26-14 victory in Buenos Aires two years ago.
They recovered after conceding tries to Gonzalo Tiesi and Juan Manuel Leguizamon and travel to Mar del Plata with the prospect of sharing a series with the Pumas.
The first try came via former Leinster outhalf Felipe Contepomi who split the defence before delivering a perfect pass to Tiesi.
