When it comes to exotic locations for championship events, you can't beat the World Mountain Running Trophy. Tomorrow, the 15th edition of the gruelling mountain run takes place in Mount Kinabalu Park in the highlands of Sabah, Borneo.
Over 500 runners from 37 countries will participate, including an Irish team. The senior men are lead by former world champion John Lenihan of Kerry, and includes Robin Bryson, Francis Cosgrave, Gary Thornton and Colm Rothery. Ireland will also be represented by a women's team and a junior team.
There's just one downside. The men's 12.5km course follows an undulating track around the park that includes eight mountain peaks over 1,500 metres high. Not quite your average stroll in the park.
