Women's Hockey: With just two games of the new season played Pembroke Wanderers won't be getting too carried away with their top-of-the-table position but they'll be quietly satisfied with their start to the new campaign, having taken six points out of six so far.

Last week's 2-1 win over Old Alexandra, to add to their 1-0 defeat of Three Rock on the opening weekend of the season, will have been a boost to a Pembroke team desperate to improve on last season's disappointing campaign.

Having finished 12 points short of champions' Loreto's total the season before last the gap between themselves and the top team - Loreto again - doubled last season, with Pembroke losing nine of their 18 games.

They finished just above UCD in that campaign and it is the students who they play tomorrow, in what should be a test of Pembroke's winning start.

UCD were unlucky not to take something from their opening game against Railway Union last weekend, having led through Eimear Horan, losing 2-1 when Cathy Kenefick scored the winner in the closing minutes.

Division One's other college side, newly-promoted Trinity, play their first game of the season against Railway tomorrow, while Corinthian and Old Alexandra meet at Whitechurch.

Loreto and Hermes, who, unexpectedly, had last weekend off after the sprinkler failure at Booterstown, are back in action.

Loreto are away to Three Rock while Hermes will take on Clontarf.
