The likelihood is that Pembroke Wanderers will be the only unbeaten first-division team in the Leinster League after they have welcomed Three Rock Rovers to Serpentine Avenue tomorrow.

The young Rovers side did well to beat Glenanne (3-2) in their opening game, followed by a 2-1 defeat of YMCA, but the highly accomplished Pembroke brigade, having scored freely in all three home matches, are set to maintain a 100 per cent record.

Gordon Elliott, who notched a hat-trick against YM, may be especially keen to outmanoeuvre his former Three Rock teammates, making it a testing afternoon for goalkeeper Wendal Armstrong.

The other first-division games in the Computershare-backed league look evenly balanced. Trinity, notably, are capable of sharing the points with Corinthians in a high scoring contest at Santry. The promoted students enjoyed their first outing against Glenanne (3-4) and now, with registrations complete, they can count on a well equipped squad. The danger for David Johnston and his fellow defenders tomorrow will be the elusive running of Colin Stewart.
