A controversial penalty in injury time gave Mary I victory over DIT in Limerick.

The visitors were holding on to a 1-9 to 1-7 advantage when, after a goalmouth scramble, referee Kevin Walsh consulted with his umpires and pointed to the penalty spot.

Wing back Diarmuid Carroll then slotted the ball past Shane Daffy and there was still time for Brian Wall to send over the insurance point for Mary I.
