Back in 1952, Harry Perry was a schoolboy when he won the first of eight Irish amateur boxing titles at weights ranging from feather to welter. In the New Year he will be president of Delgany GC. Best remembered for his wonderful tussles with Fred Tiedt he now contents himself with a much more leisurely pursuit off a 17 handicap. Indeed he is noted as the gentlest of souls, which will be a highly desirable quality in a club official, now that Delgany have embraced equal status.
