Skerries put aside their first-round rustiness with a polished display against Sandford Park at Station Road yesterday. In all they ran in 10 tries, most of them in the first half when they had the benefit of a strong wind behind them. It only took Skerries a minute to open their account when scrumhalf Mark Heeney went over and Eoin O'Byrne increased that lead touching down on the right.
Then came a scoring blitz from right centre Damien Kirwan who crossed for four tries, but arguably the best came from flanker James Sherlock who ran on to a reverse pass to score beneath the posts.
Outhalf Conal Keane sent over his sixth conversion to leave it 47-0 at the interval.
Skerries increased their lead in the second period with further tries from Paul White, Stephen Burton and Keane.
