Replacements 3
Nightmare. Court arrived on 36 minutes to remind everyone how completely ineffective he is as a scrummager. O’Leary’s passing was sloppy.
Eoin Reddan 4
Not so much what he does, as he’s a reliable nine, but what he doesn’t do. No defensive presence, telegraphs most actions and little attacking threat.
Mike Ross n/a
Violent ejection from a 34th minute scrum was the end of his day. It’s a huge concern that no replacement currently exists for this average tighthead prop.
Rob Kearney 6
Isa Nacewa is a winger now. Kearney almost kicked an epic drop goal but also had some poor kicks. Competent display in a sensational championship.
Stephen Ferris 7
Bite him all you like, he will keep coming. The Ulster blindside is a freakishly powerful operator, so dynamic and so far ahead of his team-mates on Saturday.
Keith Earls 5
Winger masquerading as a centre. Two bursts into space were ruined by lack of peripheral vision to send Bowe in for certain tries. Number 11 not 13.
Jamie Heaslip 5
Number eights must carry over the gainline. For sixth Test match running he was blatantly outclassed by opposite number. Lions player surely better than this,
Donncha O'Callaghan 5
Honesty and endeavour unquestioned, but more should be expected of a lock capped 85 times by his country. Time is winning this race.
Gordon D'Arcy 4
Yet again, no impact. Some ridiculous kicks from hand and didn’t grow into the campaign like he used to do. Opposite number Brad Barritt was far superior.
Andrew Trimble 4
An international winger is expected to be electric and prolific. Trimble is neither. Occasional carries merely highlighted poor hands in contact.
Donnacha Ryan 6
Forced turnovers with smash, bang, wallop approach. While he is no O’Connell, he is himself and that is enough. Will improve if partnered with O’Connell in New Zealand.
Sean O'Brien 6
Fleeting glimpses of the tank at breakdown and a few rumbles but maybe he wasn’t fit. Maybe he could shine at eight. Maybe we’ll find out in June. Or maybe not.
Cian Healy 5
Went at them but Dan Cole crushed him in the scrums. Worth noting that “Church” is still only 24 and that alone makes him a national treasure.
Tommy Bowe 6
An international winger is expected to be electric and prolific. Bowe is both. Picked clever lines that others failed to notice.
Jonny Sexton 6
Would love to know what he thinks about being shifted to 12. To ransack Twickenham the outhalf must have a day like Elwood in 1994 or O’Gara in 2006.
Rory Best 5
Tried in vain to carry like O’Connell and sensible in crisis but the scrum humiliation came on his watch. The record will show he led Ireland to a 30-9 beating in Twickenham.
