Jamaican police issued another appeal for witnesses in the murder of Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer yesterday and offered a 24-hour hotline for people who might have clues to help solve the mystery.

Nine days after the killing, Jamaica deputy police commissioner Mark Shields said there were no significant developments and no clear suspects in the strangulation murder of one of the world's best-known cricket coaches.

He said police were looking for "people who may have heard something or seen something within the hotel that raised their suspicions, which so far they haven't come forward with. The important thing is that we get to those people and give them the opportunity to come forward and talk to us".

Shields has said the probe was complicated by the departure from Jamaica of players participating in the World Cup tournament. The international phone line 1-876-927-5000, would be operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
