In a very one-sided contest at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise, yesterday before a very small attendance Laois collected their second brace of league points when they easily disposed of the challenge of Kilkenny. Michael Lawlor gave Laois the lead after two minutes and when Damien Delaney scored a great goal at the end of the quarter Laois led 14 to 0-0. The visitors did not open their account until the 22nd minute when Damien Walsh had a point from a free, but he added a second from play a minute later.

At the interval Laois led 1-7 to 02. The second half saw Laois stretch their advantage with two quick points from frees by Lawlor. Walsh had a point from a free and with 15 minutes remaining Laois led 1-12 to 0-3.

Substitute Declan Rooney scored Laois's second goal after 48 minutes and further points from Rooney and Delaney completed their scoring.
