Pressure is on Farrelly

Although just five games into the season, Bohemians player-manager Gareth Farrelly is under pressure

Although just five games into the season, Bohemians player-manager Gareth Farrelly is under pressure. His team is still searching for a win and after another match without a goal, the supporters are becoming restless.

Cork were good value for their win as Bohemians continue to languish at the wrong end of the table. The victory extends Cork's unbeaten league run to 17 games.

Cork went close in the opening minutes when George O'Callaghan's scuffed shot from inside the box had goalkeeper Matt Gregg scrambling to clear. The Cork midfielder was the catalyst for most of Cork's attacks. He was central to a neat move in the 14th minute that he finished but his shot from 12 yards went wide.

Cork's intelligent use of the ball left Bohemians mesmerised at times and not until late in the half did Farrelly's men have an attack of note. Winger Fergal Harkin's 36th-minute free-kick was met with a diving header from Dominic Foley and goalkeeper Michael Devine was at full stretch to keep it out.

Cork scored three minutes into the second half. O'Callaghan supplied Denis Behan and the striker shot low to Gregg's right for his fourth goal in all competitions this season.

In the dying minutes substitute John O'Flynn was one-on-one with Gregg but his shot hit the goalkeeper's legs and from the rebound Des Byrne cleared off the line. Doyle secured the win in injury time following a mix-up between Terry Palmer and Stephen Rice. The Irish under-21 tucked home from 10 yards.
