League of Ireland Previews:It's all about restoring pride at Turner's Cross tonight as Cork City try to exorcise the ghost of their 4-1 humiliation at Sligo Rovers last week, the worst result manager Damien Richardson can remember in his two spells in charge at the club.
"There are three points at stake and while they are important, they pale into insignificance beside the matter of regaining pride," said Richardson. "That's more important to me than the three points on offer."
Dented pride aside, Cork suffered no other injuries in Sligo and work off the same panel. Midfielder Joe Gamble is available, having been granted permission to join the Ireland squad in New York on Saturday. Seán Kelly remains out with a cheekbone fracture. Gareth Farrelly and Colin Healy are still ineligible.
Bohemians' 5-0 defeat of Longford last week doubled their goal tally for the season, but manager Seán Connor believes the win by his former club over Cork has done him no favours.
"It was a terrible result for us," said Connor. "Cork will be wounded . . . I'm quite sure they'll be working this week to make sure nothing like that ever happens again."
Defenders Des Byrne and Mark Rossiter and midfielder Fergal Harkin are available to Connor following injury, though winger Harpal Singh (shoulder) and defender Dean Pooley (ankle) remain out.
Midfielder Danny O'Connor returns from suspension as Shamrock Rovers bid to bounce back from their defeat at Derry City on Monday with a win over Waterford United at Tolka Park.
Manager Pat Scully also hopes to have striker Ger Rowe fully fit, but Derek Pender and Tommy Barrett remain out with injuries, as do Eric McGill and Paul Shiels.
Waterford's hopes of building on their win against Galway United are dented by injury doubts over midfielder Stephen Cooling and strikers Robert Brosnan and Vinny Sullivan.
Buoyed by their unbeaten run of six league games, UCD travel to Galway United without their captain Tony McDonnell (hamstring). Midfielder Ronan Finn (knee) remains out.
UCD have agreed to sell their former Ireland under-21 cap Gary Dicker to the English League Two side Stockport County for a small fee. Galway are without their Dutch defender Regi Nootimeer (suspended).
Maintaining the form of their 4-1 win over Cork is Sligo Rovers' task against Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds. Manager Paul Cook will have to do without suspended midfielder Stephen Manson. Bray are without Paul Caffrey (calf) as manager Eddie Gormley awaits fitness checks on several others.
