Newmarket report: Hot favourite Hoh Mike may not have enjoyed the rub of the green but Strategic Prince found no trouble in running to register a comprehensive success in the TNT July Stakes at Newmarket yesterday.

Paul Cole's juvenile was ignored by many and his 16 to 1 price tag looked very generous after Eddie Ahern flew home by a length and three-quarters and a length and a quarter from the Mark Johnston pair of Armigerent and Dubai's Touch.

Ahern settled his mount towards the rear in the early exchanges of the six-furlong contest and the colt produced a terrific burst of speed when pulled out wide for his challenge with his run quickly sealing the race.

Cole's charge had made an impression on his debut when successful at Salisbury but a wide draw put paid to his chance in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Hoh Mike was sent off the well-backed 4 to 6 favourite after his luckless run when second in the same Ascot race and he again suffered a troubled passage, eventually taking seventh under Jamie Spencer.

Soapy Danger's rapid rise through the ranks continued as the all-weather maiden winner clocked up his second Group-race win in as many starts with a spirited success in the Princess Of Wales' wbx.com Stakes at Newmarket.

Always to the fore under Kevin Darley, the 5 to 1 shot bowled along in front and responded to his rider's urgings when challenged by Enforcer and favourite Mountain High inside the final three furlongs and and had three-quarters of a length to spare over the market leader at the line.
