WORLD champions Wayne McCullough and "Prince" Naseem Hamed continued their war of words yesterday with McCullough's manager Mat Tinley dismissing Hamed as a "real bore".
Tinley was replying to Hamed's jibe that McCullough, one of Ireland's two current world champions, should be called "The Pocket Socket" rather than his chosen title of "The Pocket Rocket".
Tinley, a Denver-based television executive, was angered at Hamed's latest jibes at the WBC bantamweight champion, who is keen to take on the WBO featherweight title holder.
flamed had said it was only a matter of time before McCullough, the 1992 Olympic silver medallist at bantamweight, would be beaten and that he wanted to be the first to do it.
But Tinley said: "It seems the only way Hamed gets in the headlines is only slagging off McCullough.
He added: "At the start it's unusual and humorous, but once you have seen it a couple of times there is nothing more to it. Hamed has just become a real bore.
"When Wayne meets him it will be a man against a boy. If Daniel Alicea, an ordinary fighter, can put Hamed down, Wayne will destroy him. Wayne was beating guys like Alicea in his fourth and fifth fights."
McCullough has pencil led in August 24th for his next title fight, probably against Londoner Duke McKenzie, before challenging for the WBC super-bantamweight title, possibly in October.
