PSV Eindhoven - 0 Auxerre - 0 Guus Hiddink's PSV Eindhoven were unable to convert their domination into goals and had to settle for a goalless draw in their first Champions League Group A game against Auxerre in France last night.
Against the least experienced team in the group - Arsenal beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the other Group A match - the Dutch dictated play but could not make the breakthrough.
Auxerre have had the best defence in the French first division this season but a disappointing attacking record.
Without France striker Djibril Cisse, who was sidelined by an ankle injury, Auxerre were hardly capable of threatening PSV's substitute goalkeeper Jelle ten Rouwelaar.
The result was a tense contest that ended with both sides sharing the points, which was somewhat flattering for the Burgundy side and a little disappointing for the Dutch.
The only team to benefit from the result are Arsenal who look odds-on to qualify.
