By the time you read this Richard Dunne could be a Manchester City, Newcastle, Sunderland or Charlton player, or he might even still be at Everton. Whatever happens there's been a near-frenzy of interest in the defender since his recent Irish displays - we note, too, that Everton have added a million to his transfer fee since he was all set to join Wimbledon last month. What a difference three games make, eh?

Wolves, meanwhile, are the latest club reported to be showing an interest in Steve Staunton but Aston Villa remain favourites to re-sign the player. Elsewhere yesterday's London Independent claimed that Arsenal have signed Juventus midfielder Edgar Davids for a fee of £9 million while also preparing to battle it out with Chelsea for the signature of Wimbledon's Jason Euell. Manchester United, of course, prefer to buy football clubs rather than players - according to Jose Maria Caneda, president of Santiago de Compostela, United have added the Spanish club to their shopping list.
