St Patricks Ath - 0 UCD - 0: A terrific double save from UCD's Republic of Ireland under-21 goalkeeper Darren Quigley was the key moment in last night's match at Richmond Park.
Quigley first showed his agility to stop a powerful header from Anthony Murphy from Michael Foley's 61st-minute corner. Mark Quigley knocked a superb ball back into the box. St Patrick's captain Darragh Maguire showed good feet to turn, but Quigley was again equal to the effort to parry away the shot.
UCD had the first two openings as Pat McWalter and Gary Dicker set up Stephen Hurley, whose cross was flicked narrowly wide by striker Conor Sammon on six minutes.
The St Patrick's goal survived another scare seven minutes later when Maguire's back header fell short and goalkeeper Barry Ryan had to race off his line to win a tackle with McWalter.
St Patrick's created a good chance on 16 minutes, Stephen Quigley getting forward to pick out Paul Keegan, but the striker ballooned it over the bar.
Negligent UCD defending should have seen them fall behind on 30 minutes. Murphy's long throw was headed on by Maguire to find Trevor Molloy, whose shot had to be cleared off the line by Conor Kenna.
A further let-off for UCD arrived before the break when Michael Foley's corner wasn't defended well. Keegan won the header to set up Mark Rutherford who, albeit off balance, steered his header wide.
