Clare native Simon Moroney has confirmed he is stepping down as chairman of the GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee.

And Moroney has strongly hinted he will be continuing in his new position as Munster Council CEO beyond September, following the recent departure of Pat Fitzgerald.

Moroney told Clare FM: “The initial agreement I had was to caretake the affairs of (Munster) Council for a nine-month period. There is a possibility that it will continue more long term.”

GAA rules preclude him from carrying out the dual mandate of CCCC chairman and Munster Council CEO.
