Navan Golf and Racecourse are launching a new concept at the end of the month. Aptly named the "All-Ireland Racing Industry Golf Challenge" it is an invitational event in which teams of four will compete for the Noel Ryan Memorial Trophy. And it is fitting that Noel Ryan, the former chief executive of the horse racing industry, who died last year, will be remembered in this way.

Noel Meade, Ireland's champion National Hunt trainer for the last two seasons, chairs the committee hosting the event which takes place on Wednesday August 30th, a day on which there is no scheduled race meeting.
