Leeds skipper Lucas Radebe was yesterday ordered to rest by a neurologist as he is suffering from headaches after sustaining concussion during Wednesday's Champions League tie in Barcelona.
Radebe definitely misses today's Elland Road clash against Ipswich, and is almost certainly out of Tuesday's European tie at home to Italian's AC Milan. In fact, the 31-year-old is uncertain when he will return to what has become an injury-ravaged Leeds side as manager David O'Leary has another five players injured.
Radebe's injury is clearly serious despite having flown back yesterday with the rest of the squad after being released from a Barcelona head and neck clinic following a series of x-rays and tests.
The South African international was given the best medical treatment Barcelona could provide after being involved in an aerial collision with team-mate Michael Duberry minutes prior to the end of Leeds' 4-0 drubbing at the Nou Camp.
Radebe was taken off the pitch on a motorised cart with his neck in a brace before immediately being transported to hospital and then the clinic for a comprehensive examination.
After an overnight stay, Radebe returned to Leeds in the afternoon after seemingly being given the all clear, but yesterday visited a neurologist as he was complaining about the headaches.
Radebe joins Jason Wilcox - who fractured his ankle earlier in the week - Harry Kewell, David Batty, Jonathan Woodgate, Eirik Bakke and Dominic Matteo on the injury list.
"I seem to have trodden on a black cat because each game we go into I've got fewer players to choose from," said O'Leary.
O'Leary also has Mark Viduka on Olympic duty with Australia for at least another two weeks and is likely to play Danny Mills alongside Duberry in the centre of defence, with Ian Harte returning to his customary left-back position and Matthew Jones slotting into the midfield.
