SOCCER:RANGERS THREW the Scottish Premier League title race wide open as they moved to within two points of leaders Celtic with a game in hand thanks to a last-gasp win over Kilmarnock.
With their rivals not in action this weekend – Celtic’s Cup tie at Inverness was postponed – the Scottish champions were well aware of the importance of taking maximum points.
The breakthrough came after 38 minutes when El-Hadji Diouf netted his first goal at Ibrox to hand Rangers the advantage.
Steven Whittaker supplied the pass and Diouf took a touch before rifling a shot past the grasp of the Kilmarnock goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola and into the bottom corner from 10 yards.
However, that was cancelled out by Jamie Hamill who scored from the penalty spot on the hour mark. But it was Tim Clancy who had the final say when he was unfortunate enough to score an own goal after 87 minutes.
