Manager Dick Advocaat believes Dynamo Moscow's will start defensively, sitting back and trying to hit the Ibrox side on the break.

"They'll try to get a good result here, play defensively and try to do something on the break. It's up to us what we do, but I don't expect a very open game from Dynamo Moscow."

Advocaat will be without new striker Shota Arveladze, who is cup tied following his appearance for Ajax in the Champions League, but the squad is boosted by the return of Lorenzo Amoruso from suspension.

The Rangers boss insists he has been encouraged by performances in the last few games. "You can see it in training and you can see it in the games as well - Celtic, Dundee United and especially last Saturday, I think that was an excellent performance. We also have more competition in the squad because we have almost 20 players and that's also important."
