Charlie Swan's Ransboro landed the feature race, the Europe Hotel Handicap Chase, at Killarney last night under a strong Mike Darcy ride.
Ransboro tracked the leaders before getting to the front at the fourth last, and while tiring on the run-in, held on for a half-length win over his former stablemate Strong Project.
"Both Ransboro and Strong Project used to go out in the field together everyday and were great old buddies!" said Swan.
"Ransboro is likely to go to the sales, without another run, at Doncaster on May 22nd," he added.
Jockey Andrew McNamara produced Michael Hourigan's Flying Johnny M with perfect timing to win the McSweeney Arms Maiden Hurdle. The gelded son of Flying Legend had chased the leaders and arrived to lead after jumping the final flight, staying on for a two-and-a-half-length win.
Conna Castle followed up his second to Straw Bear with a bloodless success over hurdles at Killarney and will be now be aimed at the Irish Independent Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival next March. Jimmy Mangan's seven-year-old was 13 lengths behind Straw Bear at Aintree last month and confirmed himself a smart prospect when coasting home as the 1 to 5 favourite in the Laurels Bar Hurdle.
