Leinster Schools, Section A: Mount Temple became the fourth and final school to qualify for the Leinster Section A (McMullen) Senior Cup semi-final with a bloodless, 39-0 demolition of Gorey Community School at Dr Hickey Park yesterday.

Temple have not ruled the roost since 1998, but they could make a bold bid to roll back the years with a side led by Leinster Youths number eight Stephen Boyle and Ireland Youths three-quarter Max Rantz-McDonald.

In fact, Rantz-McDonald was the scourge of a Gorey 15 who were fighting a losing battle from the moment Rantz-McDonald knifed through for the first of his two tries in the second minute.

Leinster A Schools outhalf Ian Denham got plenty of time to sharpen his kicking skills as Boyle, prop Eoin McCabe and hooker Peter Dawson completed the set of five tries ahead of their semi-final tussle with the holders St Patrick's Classical School.

It could be a great year for St Patrick's, as their juniors have already made it through to the final where they will meet St Columba's College.

St Patrick's had to rely on an injury-time try from Barry Carolan, when hooker Rory Duane won a crucial strike against the head, in their 8-5 defeat of Naas CBS at Barnhall.

St Columba's College got just as big a fright when they saw their 13-0 lead whittled away to the minimum, thanks to a brace of tries and one conversion from Ian McKinley, as resurgent Naas were driven on by tries from Niall McCann and Oliver Faulkner at Lakelands Park.
