DERMOT WELD could have a Navan double tonight when Rare Unity is an appealing fourth start first run in a handicap candidate for the Rosewell Lodge trainer. He ran twice last year in smart Leopardstown maidens, taking on future Group race winners Mantovani and Johan Cruyff. This season he came from behind to finish seventh to Glasshouse at Naas over six furlongs and will prefer this extra distance.

He is by the Derby winner Generous while his dam, Sizes Vary, was surely prophetically named as an earlier foal was the diminutive Just Little. Rare Unity. built in a bigger mould. has, however, only to possess some of her gutsy character to be a horse to follow.

Earlier in the evening Just Try Me can open his account at his second attempt in the Beaupark Maiden. Last season he was six lengths clear of the third One Won One when unsuccessfully chasing Mo Chos Chle in a mile maiden at Listowel for which he started favourite.

The winner was trained by Jim Bolger and with that line his Russian Relation could be a serious danger. This Maktoum Al Maktoum runner was second to another Weld horse, Celebrity Style, at the Curragh last Friday night.

Bolger's best prospect of a winner may be Ganaway in the Navan Driving Range Maiden. He comes with two placings so far, one of them behind Dabali at the Curragh on 1,000 Guineas day when the competition is always syrong.

Kevin Prendergast, having up set the odds on Mempari in the opener at Leopardstown last night, can look forward to another juvenile winner, Challenger Two in the Davy Brennan colours. He ran a cracker first time at Naas to be beaten half a length by Kitza who got away from him at the critical stage in the contest.

At one stage during the winter Michael O'Brien had Triumph Hurdle hopes for Dovaly but things did not pan out for him. He has, however, come to hand in recent weeks and it was a dashing ride on the part of Charlie Swan to make all the running in a big field at Cork to beat Eduardo by a length.

Dovaly has yet to be rated but it is unlikely if he would be handicapped within 9lb of Buggy this morning. That is the weight differential in the Meath Farm Machinery Hurdle but he could be the faster improver of the pair, even allowing for Buggy's good run at Naas against Colm's Rock.

The bumper looks a very difficult race, with four runners placed last time out, as well as newcomers from the Aidan O'Brien and Jim Dreaper stables. Perhaps Confidentiality, touched off at Leopardstown, will answer the puzzle.

. Blue Goblin, hot favourite for Saturday's £45,000 added William Hill Trophy at York, has been pulled out of the race. A spokeswoman for Luca Cumani's stable said: "Sheikh Mohammed has decided that he would like to see Blue Goblin run at Royal Ascot and he will now run in the Cork and Orrery Stakes."

Prior to the announcement the three year old had been quoted at 5 to 4 by the sponsors so a great shake up in the ante post market can now be expected.
