A TENACIOUS Rathgormack side fully deserved their four points win over Moyle Rovers, Tipperary, in an excellent Munster club senior football championship first round tie at Dungarvan yesterday. The visitors made the more impressive start, scoring three points in the opening eight minutes, but this was to be the only time they led in the match. Centre forward, Martin Power, opened Rathgormack's account in the 10th minute and within eight minutes he had the teams on parity.
Rathgormack made the better start to the second half, scoring two points inside three minutes. Pat Crotty capitalised on a defender's error to slam home Rathgormack's goal in the 39th minute but inside 60 seconds Allstar Declan Browne had the ball nestling in the net at the other end. When Browne was denied a second goal by a brilliant save by Rathgormack goalkeeper, Pat Fahey, eight minutes from the end, it was the Waterford side who went on to finish the stronger.
