WELSH legend John Charles, who is still revered in Turin, says Fabrizio Ravanelli and Gianluca Vialli have a duty to their clubs to tough it out. Ravanelli has claimed he is dreaming of a return to Juventus from Middlesbrough, while Vialli has been complaining over not regaining his place in the Chelsea line up.
Charles (65), a former Juventus and Roma striker, said: "I believe that if you have a contract for four years then you should stay four years."
"It all depends on the type of person you are. But in my view, it is wrong to publicly criticise your club, just as it is wrong to publicly criticise fellow players.
"I cannot believe what I am reading in the papers about Italian players here being unsettled.
Surely they can be back home in an hour or two these days if they want to see family or friends.
"Both players are being well paid and it should be a time when they are learning the language and enjoying a different culture. That's what I did when I went to should be helping their clubs. Yet all they are succeeding in doing is disheartening people with their remarks. It is not right.
"Middlesbrough manager Bryan Rob son has enough on his plate at the moment with his team stuck at the foot of the table without Ravanelli repeatedly saying how unhappy he is."
Ravanelli has scored 18 goals this season but has become increasingly irritated with life on Teesside with Middlesbrough languishing at the foot of the table.
But he said: "I am not escaping from Middlesbrough. I am not a traitor. I want to leave my club in the Premiership where I found it."
"In June, however, it will be different. Fabrizio Ravanelli has stayed a Juventino and will always be one."
Asked why Juventus had sold him, he said: "I have no answer. Time and distance don't help.
"I hoped to understand it but instead it is still a mystery to me. Maybe it was an economic decision for everybody.
"But billions don't make you a winner and Fabrizio Ravanelli needs to win."
Vialli, who was Ravanelli's former skipper at Juventus, yesterday expressed his frustration at not making Chelsea's starting lineup.
"He is worse off than me," claimed Ravanelli in Rome newspaper La Republica. "He told me about his knee and about Gullit, who never plays him. Incredible!
"If I close my eyes, I see myself with Luca at the Olympic Stadium, kissing the European Cup. And now we are here.
"The England I was expecting was not a bottom place. Even a child could understand that."
Middlesbrough assistant manager Viv Anderson said: "I have not seen the latest report so I am not in a position to comment.
"Ravanelli claimed earlier this week he had been misquoted in the Italian press.
