After Eyal Berkovic gave Saints an early lead, Republic of Ireland international Roy Keane was sent off, and Saints took over with an Egil Ostenstad hat-trick and further goals from Berkovic and Matt Le Tissier. David Beckham, David May and Paul Scholes replied for the visitors.
