AMERICAN FOOTBALL:The Washington Redskins, who snagged the last NFC wild-card spot after four successive victories, kick off the play-offs today against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Redskins, struck by tragedy in November when Pro Bowl safety Sean Taylor was murdered during a break-in at his Miami home, ended the regular season with a 9-7 record.
Washington's game in Seattle against NFC West champion Seahawks (10-6) is the first of four wild-card round games. AFC North champion Pittsburgh Steelers play the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars in today's second game.
NFC South winners Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the New York Giants, and the Tennessee Titans travel to San Diego to meet AFC West champion San Diego Chargers in tomorrow's other games.
