Dr McKenna Cup: Cavan had to battle hard to overcome UU Jordanstown in the final game in Section A at Breffni Park yesterday, a second-half goal from substitute Larry Reilly proving to be the vital score.
The scores were level seven times in the first half and at the interval it was 0-7 apiece.
The game was held up for over five minutes after a serious injury to Cavan's Gerald Pierson and when play resumed Jordanstown seemed to have benefited from the break, two points from Colin Devlin leaving them trailing 0-10 to 0-8 with 15 minutes left.
It was then that the experience of Reilly came to the fore when he finished a Sean Maguire pass to the net and Cavan held out for a deserved win.
