RACING: It should pay to side with Ferdy Murphy and Streamstown in today's feature event, the £80,000 Marstons Midlands Grand National Chase at Uttoxeter.

And the booking of champion jockey Tony McCoy does nothing to deter confidence in the eight-year-old.

He already has one big staying prize to his name this season, and that came at this course in February when he relished the heavy ground in the Singer & Friedlander National Trial over three and a half miles.

Murphy's gelding got better the further he went in what looked a race with plenty of solid performers in it.

In the end he came home a brave one and three-quarter lengths winner from Tony Martin's raider It's Himself, with another proven mudlark, Edmond, seven lengths away in third.

That is decent form and a repeat may be good enough to beat Irish challengers This Is Serious and The Bunny Boiler.
