Diadora, the company that makes Roy Keane's boots, has come up with an idea which is sending the Manchester United memorabilia collectors into overdrive. A 17-inch replica doll called "Keano" made of plastic and looking as much like an action man as a footballer has become a much sought after item for the anoraks. Already £18,000 has been bid, about one third of what the Corkman is paid each week.
The toy comes complete with Keane's famously hard stare and designer stubble. But the defining touch, which makes it even more lifelike, is that the doll growls when you touch its legs. Attractively packaged, "Keano" features in magazine commercials for the sports company, accompanied with the blurbs: Unbeatable!!!; Unstoppable!!!; Easy Wind-Up Action!!! At least someone has a sense of humour.
