Under-21 Football Ulster Quarter-final.Monaghan 1-12 Cavan 0-7:A resurgent and confident Monaghan swept the challenge of Cavan aside in a free-flowing second half to book their place in the semi-final of the Ulster championship in Clones on Saturday.

The sides were level with four points apiece at the break, with Monaghan then taking complete control in the second half to hit a goal and six points without reply by the 20th minute to effectively seal the issue.

Conor McManus got the goal for Monaghan in the ninth minute of the second half and, late on, the visitors were reduced to 14 players with the injury-time dismissal of Ronan Flanagan.

The Connacht under-21 football game between Galway and Leitrim was called off. The tie is now set for next Saturday at Duggan Park, Ballinasloe.
