CYCLING: The 1997 winner Andrew Roche has been forced to withdraw from the Murphy and Gunn/Newlyn Group team for the FBD Insurance Rás after he broke a collarbone in the Rutland-Melton event in England at the weekend, writes Shane Stokes.
Meanwhile, Liquigas' Franco Pellizotti won the 10th stage of the Tour of Italy yesterday. Mark Scanlon (AG2R Prévoyance) trailed in 18 minutes and three seconds down, clearly some way off his top form after a spring affected by illness. Ivan Basso continues to lead overall.
