Elm Park and Co Louth will play reverse roles when the Bulmers All-Ireland finals are held in Lahinch in September. Last year Elm Park represented Leinster in the Barton Shield finals while Co Louth were the Senior Cup representatives. Co Louth qualified for the Shield finals two weeks ago but last weekend at the excellently set-up Rathsallagh course they lost their Senior Cup crown to none other than Elm Park.

Elm Park overcame them in the quarter-final 4-1 and went on to beat Old Conna, also 4-1, in the semi-final. In the final after Noel Fox had given Portmarnock the first match with a 3 and 2 win over John Curran, Elm Park took three of the next four with Michael Turley beating David Kelleher 3 and 2, Declan Quilligan was a 6 and 4 winner over Adrian Morrow while former international Padraig Hogan secured the vital third point with a one hole win over Colm Cassidy.
