CONNACHT FBD LEAGUE: Mayo 1-11 Leitrim 0-2:MAYO HAD a facile win against a very poor Leitrim outfit in Ballinamore to qualify at a canter for the Connacht FBD League Home Final against NUIG yesterday.

James Horan’s men overran Leitrim and went in leading by 0-8 to 0-1 at the break with an in-form Mark Ronaldson hitting 0-6.

Leitrim didn’t score for 54 minutes, a fifth-minute point from Brian McDonald from play and a similar 59th score by substitute Colm Maguire.

Aidan Kilcoyne completed Mayo’s rout of Leitrim when he fired home a goal soccer-style with six minutes remaining.

Ronaldson and Aidan Campbell edged Mayo into a two-point lead within 90 seconds with points from a free and play, respectively.

Leitrim’s Brian McDonald fired over from play in the following minute. But Mayo went on to take complete command after that adding six unanswered points before half-time with Ronaldson hitting five of them and Aidan Kilcoyne adding the other point.
